Just Me

Well, what do you know...I am more than a SAHM (stay-at-home-mom) after all! Sometimes,I still get to enjoy the things I used to do before having my precious little ones. I find that I have a lot in common with many of you out there and I guess I'd also like to share a little more about myself. Be warned: SAHMs like me do NOT get out much so if you see yourself nodding off, I understand. LOL! But, if you're not that bored, read on! (I suggest you make a sandwich & drink lotsa caffeine! lol!)

First of all, my name's Grace and I live in Southern California. The beach is only minutes away from us and the mountains (Lake Arrowhead/Big Bear) is also near. As a matter of fact, I lived up in the mountains since I was in Junior High and I do miss the snow and ice skating with my friends. I came to the city to go to college and that's where I met my hubby and started a family. I just turned 27 and I don't know how that happened so fast, but here I am. So, here's the rest... =0)

My favorite company would have to be my family. My hubby, Joey, is my best friend and we base our marriage on love & honesty. We know everything there is to know about each other and don't see a point in not being able to talk about ANYTHING at all. No subject too weird or embarrassing. lol! Then there's my three little sweethearts. They keep me busy anytime of the day and I love them forever. They're still so little and I am very protective of them like a mommy hen. :)

Two things I love to do the most is read books and watch movies. I don't really like to watch TV anymore but I'm very much into foreign films and old classics. A few of my favorites are: Life is Beautiful, Indochine, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Great Expectations, Amadeus, Roman Holiday. Oh and there's the chick flicks, ya gotta have those! Also, if I had my way, I'd live at Barnes & Noble and read books all day long! lol! I am always looking forward to reading more of Patricia Cornwell since I've already read ALL her books and James North Patterson is another one I'm in favor of. I love classics like Jane Austin & Shakespeare, poems by Lord Byron and the Romantic period. My favorite classes were always history and English Lit. Lately, I've the ones Oprah's suggested for her book club. My all time favorite has to be "White Oleander". This book is poetry in every sentences! The writing is just beautiful!

As for music, I'm into classical and opera like "Madame Butterfly". You cannot listen to this music without being swept away into a different time and place. Puccini is a favorite of mine. I am a huge fan of Enya and filled my old site with her beautiful music. I listened to them while delivering my babies in the hospital and they were very helpful. Some favorites from college days were Enigma, Tori Amos, U2, Live, Chris Isaak, Pink Floyd, Gypsy Kings, and Santana. I also enjoy music by White Zombie, Prodigy, Metallica, and Nine Inch Nails. Pretty crazy selections huh? :P

I'm not a big collector of anything yet, but if I had the time and extra space, I'll be collecting a houseful of teacups and teapots. They're so dainty and expensive! Maybe someday... For now, I've been on the lookout for anything by Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit and the whole gang. I LOVE bunnies bunnies and more bunnies! (Did I mention bunnies?) I've had a couple of French Lops I've named Bonito and Romeo. One was huge weighing about 25 lbs.! I guess I will be needing a nice house to have all these beautiful things and that would be my dream house. *S* I'd wish for it to be a Country Victorian with huge bay windows overlooking the ocean. I can see us living there for the rest of our lives and having our kids and grandkids over every Sunday for dinner. Ya never know, everything's possible... =0)

I would love to live in Italy. I've always dreamed of having this relaxing picnic, painting and drinking wine all day in a countryside (hence my site's name) somewhere in Italy. Tuscany perhaps? I can only wish... Backpacking through Europe had been my thing back in college. Always wanted to visit the Louvre museum and stare at oil paintings from floor to ceiling all day long. I can get myself lost in those places. How about the Sistine Chapel? I'd never miss going to Venice and hopping on a gondola for a ride. *S* My Joey was a music major and he's very fascinated by Mozart. Ohh, yeah...he's coming with! This is our later years together when the kids are grown up. We go back to this daydream when life gets a little too stressful sometimes.

I used to have a lot of time scrapbooking, stenciling, painting wooden crafts and even tried woodburning. I have tried years back knitting and embroidery, but found I've no patience. I cannot sew anything that well even if it were to save my own life. I've still yet to finish this tie for my hubby uh...from five years ago. *S* He still teases me about this. Right now, I am so into primitive stuff especially angels and dolls! I'm going to attempt to make one, but not holding my breath to actually finish it. We'll see... My fashion illustration's still my #1 hobby but Paris runways don't interest me anymore. My kids are my best interests and my hubby too. Hey, I'm a Libra and we're always ruled by our hearts... I would not be enjoying life so much without them.

This is really what it's all about, isn't it? =0)
